The following support the aims of the Big Church Switch initiative:
Please do this! Changing to a green energy supplier might seem a big step for a church, but it is a hugely significant action. It is a practical way to care for God’s earth and it sends a big political signal too. Do what you need to do, talk to whoever you need to talk to, and make the switch.
The Diocese of Chichester set up the Energy Stewardship Programme to allow parishes to deliver mission in the most environmentally, economically and social ways. We cover all aspects of energy management, particularly switching to renewables. It’s a pleasure to endorse the ‘The Big Church Switch.’ We will work together to ensure that both programmes complement each other and help build a better environmental legacy for the future.
Lutheran Churches have supported work to tackle climate change around the world. Procuring 100% renewable energy is a logical extension of this in our own operations, so we very much support the Big Church Switch.
Switching to renewable electricity is one of the simplest ways to cut your carbon footprint, it’s a big step forward for climate justice. That’s why here in West Yorkshire and the Dales we are helping all our parishes to switch with our Green Journey scheme.
As an agency of the Catholic Church, inspired by the call of Pope Francis to care for our common home and all of us who depend on it, we support the Big Church Switch as a powerful act of unity and witness. The Paris climate deal agreed at the end of last year was only the first step. The real effort to tackle climate change starts now. Together we can demonstrate to people in power the world we want to leave to generations to come.
